Appearance

Ren has long dark blue hair that is parted to the left, covering his left eye. He has fair complexion and unscathed skin even though he spent his life mostly in the battlefield.
His golden eyes aren’t signs of being a product of incest; those were just one of his unusual features. He also boasts his relatively respectable height of 184 cm.

Personality

Ren is not someone who would like to be the center of attention. He is mostly extrovert but he knows the limitations of what he could stick his nose into to preserve the things he shouldn’t have any business with. Unless it is necessary, he will not meddle with anything with just pure impulses but when it comes to his bitter regrets and memories, he could be emotionally driven. He is reserved with a sense of reason and emotional deep inside but he is friendly nevertheless with occasional lame jokes. An expert in hiding his real emotions, he always has a smile to greet everyone but his virtuous outer shell shouldn’t deceive you because he can be ruthless when he feels that the situation calls for it.

Did I mention he’s kind of conceited too?

Abilities, Talents and Powers

He can turn himself into a straw doll when he puts the pendant around his neck, against his lips. He can also release scorching beam from his eyes though he’s too embarrassed to use it because he has to squeal “Ichimoku Beam!” in a high pitched tone. He can also leap higher than normal humans in great speed but not faster than an ostrich. Unfortunately, he can’t use it often because it drains his so called “beauty.”

Faults and Weaknesses

Special Ability:
• Leaping: He can’t use it often because it drains his so called “beauty.”
• Straw doll transformation: He can’t turn back into a human unless someone unties the red string around it. However, if the string isn’t removed in a week, he’ll eventually turn back with 4 pounds reduced.
• Ichimoku Beam: It humiliates him so much he might commit suicide if someone sees him doing it.

Mental:
• He has no record of mental retardation but he sometimes suffers depression.

Emotional:
• He can be an emo kid sometimes due to the fact that he was disowned by his parents because of his cowardice. Remembering this makes him want to sulk in the darkest corner as a straw doll.
• He has a weak spot for damsels in distress and sustentative killing victims.
• He often longs for a real family he was about to have before he died.

History

Born in a samurai’s family, Ichimoku Ren grew up following the virtues of Bushido although killing is against his belief. He was raised as a swordsman who will soon takeover his father’s role as the head of the imperial army. For the short time he had lived his life, he had killed countless innocent victims against his will. This fact made him frigid outside and locked away all his beliefs and emotions deep into the core of his being.

One fateful night however, when the imperial army launched an attack to the neighboring nation, he and the shogun representative slaughtered the princess who refused to marry the daimyo. His emotions awakened there when the lady told them a clichéd touching statement before she finally ran out of breath. After that, his conscience tortured him so much he felt axes hacking him from every direction. Fortunately, he redeemed his sanity before he completely turns insane with the help of contemplating in the forest where he met a drunkard yet benevolent lumberjack.

The news of his escape reached the palace only a week later due to snail mail and bad weather. His parents were so humiliated that they disowned him because he’s such a coward. The emperor did not bother to hunt him down because he wasn’t interested and had used the fund in regular visits to brothels.

Henceforth, he lived his life with his new unofficial foster father. Even though they fight each and every day of their life over who gets to eat the last crumb of bread on the table, he was satisfied with his company.

He often helped his new old father in his forest work by carrying the logs he gathered at home. Their life was normal most of the time until one old woman came claiming to be his father’s wife who was lost in the forest for seven years only to find her way home after finding the map in her pocket. His father questioned the woman’s story but later accepted her just to have someone to do the housework. From then on, foster father and son went to the woods together to gather lumber.

During one of his patrols in the forest, he was chased by a pack of dingoes causing him to sort of step on a forest gnome called Enma Bi. He apologized a lot and gave her a flashing smile while clinging on a tree branch. The gnome forgave him since he was industrious. In addition, she gave him his new special abilities. She gave him the necklace that would turn him into a doll so that the chance of him stepping on her again will be decreased to 79%. She pitied him so much so she decided to bring him a few years into the future. There, she introduced him to baggy clothes, computers and everything he has to know about the future. She eventually sent him back and vanished; never to be found again.

Everything went well after that and he started to feel that he finally found a real family that he could go home to. He felt so grateful he worked so much to help with the daily expenses when he figured his new mother was pregnant. It was only a week before his mother gives birth regrettably, he fell ill. They were poor and far from the city so they could only help him with every herbal medicine there was. Everyone stayed by his deathbed until he finally left them permanently four days later.
